Also - Übersetzungen bestimmter Artikel sind herzlich willkommen...

Thank you for this smart and funny story. While I cannot say that I use marshrutka very oftenly, I see overcrowded bus stops and feel back to USSR with its busses with people placed like herrings in the can. Marshrutka drivers were not mildly speaking the most disciplined drivers, but it was some sort of solution of Baku's complex urban transport problems. This practice of changing regulation before any proper alternatives reminded my the phrase said by Mr. Chernomyrdin, former Russian prime minister, "we wantet as better as possible, but ultimately got it as usual". (in Russian it sounds cuter). This change has an economic background as well, as you rightly point out, instead of hundreds of small companies and individuals, all bus transportation business will be consolidated in 2-3 big bus companies. Since there is some kind of consolidation process in the taxi business as well, shortage of buses in the central Baku will boost the demand for taxi services, as people tired of waiting will use them, and I already hear that some companies are planning to bring many Mercedes to use as taxi in Baku.
